Mézga Aladár is the son of Géza Mézga and Paula. He converted an old radio into a transmitter in his separate room. They use it to keep in touch with MZ/X. Thanks to his creativity and technical skills, he makes new inventions from household objects. Among other things, this is how he created the ultra-modern radio. Most of the time, he uses his father’s things, who is regularly distracted by them. Kriszta calls him “Aladdin the Idiot”, despite the fact that he always turns to him for help with his homework. Their banter is one of the main sources of humour in the series. Aladár becomes the protagonist of the second series, in which he travels around the world in his inflatable rubber spaceship “Gulliver”, accompanied by his faithful companion, Blöki the dog. He stores the unused spaceship in violin cases and fills it with soda siphon.
Aladar, aged 12, is blessed with genius: he tinkers with devices that can take his pretzel on space journeys, and sometimes he contacts his 30th century descendant (his cub-grandson, MZ/X, or “Buddy”) and asks him for various modern items. But only rarely do his family members get to grips with the new tools and opportunities, and then it’s his turn to pull them out of the trap.
Aladar’s only loyal ally is his dog Blöki, who sometimes helps him in his experiments. Other members of the family include his fearlessly strict and somewhat clumsy father (Géza Mézga), his kindly but not very strong-minded mother (Gézán Mézga, née Paula Rezovits) and his slightly ditzy sister (Kriszta) and her cat (Maffia). Other important characters are the irritable neighbour (Máris) and the only verbally mentioned Hufnágel Pisti, Paula’s youthful suitor, whom she regrets not having married, as she says at the end of each episode.
